Daily Snap: College football

One of the things that has stuck in my head from all those Youtube sports photography seminars (Peter Read Miller, Damian Strohmeyer, among others) is that one of the cornerstones of sports photojournalism is capturing something that people can't see from the stands or their television set. To give them a new perspective.

I think the photograph below does this pretty well -- capturing the frenetic energy of the red zone while putting you right in the player's head.

Daily Snap: Senior Pageant

One of the big draws at the Ashland County Fair: the Senior Fair Pageant. Captured a couple of nice moments with both winners.

Leftovers: Volleyball

Overshadowed by college football the other day, but also caught some AU volleyball Saturday. Eagles lost to Hillsdale College, 3-1.

Daily Snap: College football

First home game of the season for the Ashland University Eagles, who are making some noise in Division II. Defeated Ohio Dominican University in a battle of top-20 teams, 27-24.

Daily Snap: Week 2 Football

Week 2 of high school football in Ohio. Saw a 20-17 thriller between two local squads.

Good, tight action with the 300mm on a Nikon D300s. Love getting two faces in a game between local squads.

Great photo that ended up in the graveyard of teams-that-almost-won celebration shots. This guy kicked a go-ahead 35-yard field goal with about a minute left, only to watch his team lose on the next possession.

This interception sealed the win for Northwestern (white jersey) with about 20 seconds left. Black River team looks on from the sideline.

Daily Snap: Even more volley

Boy, I'm getting my volleyball fix early on in this fall season. Big football Friday coming up though, so I'll have a post about that later this week.

How about some jube? There's always a ton in volleyball, so you need something with a little extra punch. I think the players on the bench add that in this frame.
