That old sports photography adage: If you can make one sport look like another, you've made a good picture. This is basketball looking something like football. Nothing like a good dive for the ball, and this one came right in my direction. Hefty crop at 12,800 ISO, but the peak action makes up for it, I think.

Daily Snap: Milestone
Local high school hoopster reached 2,000 points last night. Didn't care about catching the basket itself (piece-of-cake layup, turns out), and wanted to catch the walk back upcourt and ensuing celebration with teammates. Setting turned out nicely for this one, and she trotted right into a clean gray spot on the background.

Out of my pure hatred of motion blur, I've been pushing the ISO limits on my 5D Mark III to see how far it'll take me. Here's 12,800.

B+W Thursdays
New weekly thing? Maybe. But I re-processed this as black and white, and like the feel. Something about the ceiling and lights.

Daily Snap: Different look at wrestling
Ashland University does a one-overhead light for wrestling duals. Very dramatic. So with background completely dark, it offers opportunity for good, dark negative space. Love the look on this guy.
